Elizabeth is a 44-year-old farm worker from California and a mother of two. Elizabeth has worked in the fields for more than 20 years, most of which alongside her husband. In 2019, Elizabeth’s husband got a severe case of valley fever, an infection caused by a fungus, and is currently hospitalized. Since her husband’s continued hospitalization, the responsibility of providing for the family has fallen to her. While being the sole breadwinner of her family, she has struggled during the California storm season and flooding, losing work due to flooded fields that have been made worse due to the drought conditions from previous years.
